At one point or another, we have all gone through a difficult time. It is important to remember that you never have to struggle alone. This website provides information regarding mental health, hotlines, strategies that can be used to stay positive, and support for those going through challenging times. At LSHS, we want to help students recognize the signs of suicidal behavior and mental illness and to promote a culture of understanding and hope.

Self-Care Techniques for Positive Mental Health

  • Practice mind and body treatments or activites
    • Yoga
    • Meditation
    • Exercise
  • Plan to get plenty of sleep and maintain a healthy diet
  • Make time for activities that bring you joy
  • Try mental reframing: take a negative thought and make it positive
  • Practice deep breathing during stressful/anxious moments
  • Give back to your community by helping others
  • Stay in touch with your emotions and practice appropriate responses
  • Practice mindfulness & focus on the present moment
  • Identify a support system and stay connected
  • Maintain healthy relationships - surround yourself with positive people
